Top Features of NordicTrack S22i Bike

Incline and Decline Capabilities

One of the most standout features of the NordicTrack S22i is its ability to incline up to 20% and decline down to -10%. This unique function allows you to simulate the physical challenges of outdoor terrain, adding a new dimension to your indoor cycling workouts.

On the other hand, though SOLE bikes don’t come with the incline/decline feature, our bikes have resistance ranges that can still make a cycling session more intense. For example, our SB900 model has a 100-level resistance range.

iFit Integration

With iFit integration, cycling on the NordicTrack S22i becomes interactive. iFit has a vast library of on-demand classes, scenic rides, and Google Maps routes, ensuring that your workouts never become monotonous.

In addition, iFit trainers can remotely adjust your bike's settings in real-time during live classes, providing a personalized and challenging workout experience. From beginners to avid cyclists, iFit has something for everyone.

That said, our SOLE bikes have free SOLE+ fitness and Kinomap apps so that you can watch workout videos that are suitable for your equipment and enjoy cycling along scenic routes and exotic landscapes from the comfort of your home! In fact, for a limited time, you get to participate in the connected "Marathon pour Tous" (Marathon for All) from home using your SOLE bike and the Kinomap app during the Olympics.

Sturdy Design Meets Advanced Technology

The NordicTrack S22i’s solid construction can support users weighing up to 350 lbs, and its stability ensures a safe and comfortable ride. In addition, the S22i has a 22-inch rotating HD touchscreen for you to follow along with your iFit trainers or swivel the screen for off-bike exercises.

Our SOLE LCR and LCB models also have a weight capacity of up to 350 lbs. The biggest touchscreen display size is 10.1", which is more than enough to watch videos while cycling.

Top Features of Peloton Bike

Streamlined Classes with Popular Instructors

The Peloton bike has gained a massive following thanks to its high-energy live classes led by charismatic instructors. These interactive sessions, combined with a vibrant community, create an atmosphere that motivates and pushes you to achieve your best.

With a wide range of class styles and music genres, Peloton ensures that your workout is always fresh and exciting. The sense of camaraderie and shared goals among Peloton riders is a powerful motivator that keeps many coming back for more.

Interactive High-Definition Console

The Peloton bike's high-definition console has a crisp and clear display that brings the studio-quality classes to life, making you feel like you're right there with the instructors.

Just like all SOLE bikes’ consoles, Peloton’s console is a functional tool that provides real-time metrics on your performance, allowing you to track your progress and push your limits.

Detailed Feature Analysis: What Sets Them Apart

Incline and Decline vs. Fixed Frame

The NordicTrack S22i's ability to mimic real-life cycling conditions with its incline and decline features challenges your body in new ways and keeps your mind engaged.

On the other hand, the Peloton bike maintains a fixed frame, ensuring a stable and consistent ride. While it may not offer the dynamic physical challenge of changing inclines, it still has a solid platform for high-intensity workouts and interval training.

iFit vs. Peloton Content Ecosystem

iFit's comprehensive library on the NordicTrack S22i offers extensive fitness content, with everything from studio classes to global outdoor routes. The real-time trainer control makes it possible for your workout to be tailored on the fly, pushing you harder than you might on your own.

Peloton's content ecosystem features live classes and on-demand library filled with energetic sessions that foster a communal workout experience. The leaderboard feature adds a competitive edge, encouraging you to surpass your personal best and climb the ranks among fellow riders.

Screen Size and User Interface

The NordicTrack S22i comes with a 22-inch HD touchscreen, which is considerable large and also rotates, making it easy to switch between cycling and floor exercises. The user interface is intuitive, making it simple to navigate through various workouts and features.

Peloton's screen, while slightly smaller - at 21.5 inches on the Bike model - is equally crisp and responsive. The interface is streamlined, ensuring you spend less time clicking and more time cycling.

Both screens are central to the interactive experiences offered by their bikes.

Enhanced Resistance

The S22i has a SMR™ Silent Magnetic Resistance system, which facilitates smooth transitions between resistance levels - you can shift from an easy ride to a challenging climb without any jarring interruptions.

SOLE bikes either have magnetic or eddy current brakes as the resistance types.

Smooth and Quiet Belt Drive Mechanics

Just like SOLE, the NordicTrack S22i and Peloton bikes utilize a belt drive system that ensures a whisper-quiet workout. This is perfect for early risers or night owls who don't want to disturb others. Plus, the belt drive requires minimal maintenance, so you can focus on your fitness without worrying about your bike's upkeep.

AutoBreeze Fan

One of the unique features of the NordicTrack S22i is the AutoBreeze fan, which automatically adjusts its speed based on your workout intensity. This keeps you cool and comfortable, even during the most challenging rides.

Seat and Handlebar Adjustments for Perfect Posture

Both the S22i and Peloton bikes come with adjustable seats and handlebars so that you can find the perfect riding position. Proper posture is crucial for a comfortable ride - to avoid strain or injury, making these adjustments a vital aspect of your workout setup.

All SOLE bikes have adjustable seats while two of our models - the SB900 and SB1200 - have adjustable handlebars too.

Ergonomically Designed for Long Rides

The design of your bike can make a big difference in how long and how often you ride. Both the NordicTrack S22i and Peloton bikes are ergonomically designed to support long rides without discomfort.

On the other hand, you get to choose from 3 different types of SOLE bikes that best suit your fitness goals and body strength. These bikes also have powerful ergonomic design features like padded backrest, cushioned pedals, and so on.

Warranty Period

NordicTrack offers a generous warranty on the S22i, including a 10-year frame warranty, 2-year parts warranty, and 1-year labor warranty. This comprehensive coverage gives you peace of mind and speaks to the confidence NordicTrack has in their product's durability.

Peloton also provides a warranty, but it's a bit more limited. You'll get a 5-year frame warranty, 1-year parts warranty, and 1-year labor warranty.

Still, SOLE beats them all with the lifetime frame warranty and multiple-year warranty for the parts and labor.

Additional Features

Aside from the main features, both bikes have additional features that may sway your decision. The NordicTrack S22i includes a set of 3 lb dumbbells for cross-training, while Peloton's Bike+ model features AutoFlow lock function to lock the resistance in a specific range. This prevents the bike from automatically adjusting to the instructor’s cues during live classes.

Pros and Cons: A Balanced View

Pros of NordicTrack S22i Bike

The NordicTrack S22i bike comes out ahead with its incline and decline capabilities, larger screen, and more extensive warranty. The iFit membership also offers a wider variety of workouts, including outdoor scenery and live trainer control.

Users appreciate the ergonomic design and customizable features of the S22i, which make it suitable for riders of all sizes. The AutoBreeze fan and dumbbells available for cross-training add value to the overall package.

Cons of NordicTrack S22i Bike

The NordicTrack S22i Bike is relatively expensive, priced around $2,000, making it a significant investment for many users. Additionally, the warranty is average, offering a 10-year frame warranty, a 2-year parts warranty, and a 1-year labor warranty. However, it's important to note that the warranty is void if the bike is stored in a garage.

Some users have reported that the handlebars can wobble slightly when pressure is applied, which may be a concern for those who rely heavily on them during workouts. Besides, the 22-inch touchscreen can shake slightly, especially when users shift their upper body, which can be distracting and affect the workout experience.

Pros of Peloton Bike

Peloton offers an extensive library of live and on-demand classes with excellent instructors, providing a varied and engaging workout experience. Robust community features, including a real-time leaderboard, motivate users to push harder and stay connected.

The large, high-definition touchscreen delivers an immersive fitness experience, making workouts more enjoyable. Additionally, music integration with Spotify enhances workouts by allowing users to exercise with their favorite tunes.

Cons of Peloton Bike

While the Peloton bike offers an engaging community and high-quality classes, it lacks the incline and decline features of the S22i. The shorter warranty period and absence of a built-in fan are also points to consider.

Some users have expressed concerns about the cost of the Peloton bike and its accessories, and the need for a subscription to access the full range of classes. However, many users remain loyal to the brand for its interactive and motivating workout experience. Many users have also mentioned the uncomfortable seats.

Customer Reviews and Testimony

NordicTrack S22i Bike Review

Recent buyer Kristina left this comment on NordicTrack’s site

“This bike is great and I love the classes and trails. But I highly recommend getting a 4-7 year extended warranty. I've had to use my extended warranty for service about 3-4 times. I bought the bike in 2019 and I just scheduled the 4th service for the bike. The first three had to do with a clicking the pedals were making. The couldn't figure out what the problem was until the repair person came out for the 3rd time. Now, the incline isn't working and they told me the incline motor is dead or dying, so repair is coming out to my home this week. Luckily, I had purchased an extended warranty, otherwise I'd be spending just as much on repair as I did on the bike itself.”

Love my bike and the classes but it seems like I have to restart a frozen screen mid class which is very frustrating."
