Detailed Feature Analysis: What Sets Them Apart

Flywheel Weight

A high flywheel weight on an exercise bike typically indicates that the bike is designed to provide a more intense and realistic outdoor cycling experience. Magnetic resistance in both brands ensures a smooth and silent ride.

  • SOLE bikes often feature heavy flywheels, up to 35 lbs, offering a stable and realistic cycling experience.
  • Similarly, some BowFlex models have flywheel weights that go up to 40 lbs.

Console and Technology Integration

These bike brands have consoles for interactive workout sessions. You can also use the equipment with certain apps to keep track of your fitness performance.

  • Both brands provide LCD or HD screens, but SOLE's displays are generally larger and more advanced. For example, the SOLE LCR model features a 10.1” touchscreen, while BowFlex’s C7 bike has a 7" console with HD touchscreen.
  • One of SOLE bikes—SB1200—features a rotating HD touchscreen for users to watch workout videos and more on and off the bike.

Comfort and Usability

Both SOLE and BowFlex offer adjustable features to ensure you can ride comfortably for longer periods.

  • SOLE Bikes have adjustable seating and handlebars to fit a variety of body types.
  • BowFlex Bikes feature a padded seat and multi-grip handlebars for comfort during long rides.
  • Both bikes allow for changes in the pedal straps to secure your feet during intense workouts.

Space and Storage Options

SOLE bikes are known for their sturdy build, which can mean they take up more room and are less mobile. BowFlex bikes, on the other hand, are easier to move and store.

  • SOLE bikes are generally heavier, which can make them more challenging to move but also more stable during use.
  • Both brands typically include transport wheels so users can move the bikes more easily.
  • Both brands offer sleek designs that can fit into modern living spaces without being an eyesore.

Warranty and Customer Service

SOLE stands out with a lifetime warranty on the frame of their bikes, which is a testament to their build quality. BowFlex, while offering a robust warranty, typically covers the frame for a shorter period.

  • SOLE offers a lifetime warranty on the bike frame, a three-year warranty on electronics and parts, and a one-year warranty on labor.
  • BowFlex provides a strong warranty but with more limitations, usually covering the frame for five to ten years.
  • Both brands have customer service teams that are accessible through multiple channels, including phone and email.

Other Features

When it comes to additional features, SOLE and BowFlex have unique offerings that can enhance your workout experience.

  • SOLE bikes often come with a USB port so you can charge your devices while you work out and Bluetooth speakers to keep you pumped up with your favorite tunes.
  • Every purchase of BowFlex bikes comes with 1.5kg dumbbells so that you can strengthen your arm muscles when cycling too.
  • Both brands include water bottle holders to keep hydration within arm's reach during intense sessions.

Customer Reviews

SOLE Bike Review

Recent Buyer David Miller Said on SOLE’s Amazon Page

“Driver delivered the 150 lb box to my house and he was very helpful getting it into the garage, they called an hour before to let me know when he would arrive. Bike was pretty easy to put together but the tablet was a little complicated. I've ridden 3x and it's a solid bike, it's like most spin bikes in gyms. It can be a little tedious to adjust the seat and handlebars if someone else who is taller or shorter than you wants to ride it right after you. For the price, it's a good bike and it is very heavy.”

BowFlex Bike Review

Recent Buyer Jennifer said on BowFlex’s Amazon Page

“I am 5'4 and this was not a good physical fit for me. Seat comfort is lacking, greatly. The handlebars and pedals were just out of the range for proper fit. The machine has a solid build but noticed the rear sound others note in reviews. Sounds like the rubbing of materials. I would need to wiggle the back to stop it from making the sound occasionally. The overall design is nice. The tilt feature requires either someone with more weight or a combination of height to get it to really lean and hold it there. It does not freely flow back and forth. I had others try it and found this to be true. I like to bike and hoped this would be a similar experience during the winter. I will be buying a different bike training instead. For the right person, this could be a great machine. JRNY is interesting but nothing over the top. I returned mine after a couple of months.”
